The Faculty of Economics held a Shimabara and Unzen bus tour for international students.

On December 10, 2022, Nagasaki University's Faculty of Economics held a Shimabara and Unzen bus tour for international students of the Faculty of Economics. The purpose of this tour is to provide opportunities for students to acquire understandings of the culture and history of Nagasaki and build deeper friendships with each other and Japanese students.

Thirty-two participants visited the Honda wax industrial factory in Shimabara and experienced traditional Japanese candle making. After lunch, they went to the Mt. Unzen disaster memorial hall, which commands a fine view of Mt. Unzen and the Ariake sea, and leant about the history of Mt. Unzen and volcanos. Our last destination was Unzen Jigoku. They enjoyed the atmosphere of hot spring town created by magnificent scenery, billowing steam, and smell of sulfur.

The participants all gave positive feedback that it was great opportunity to develop a friendship and deeper understandings of the history and culture of Nagasaki.
