In this short report, I will introduce my experience of studying abroad in Poland.

Firstly, I will explain about school life. My university, Warsaw School of Economics, is located near the city centre and it is 10 minutes walk from my dormitory. About classes, the first period starts at 8:00 and one period is 100 minutes long. There is no lunch break so you have to take lunch between classes or during your free time. Students can eat food at any of the three canteens in the main building called building G. Also, there are two kitchens on every floor of the dormitory. In addition, there are kebab shops and an Asian restaurant near the university. The cost is reasonable, but the more you make meals, the more you can save money. So, I have been cooking almost every meal by myself.

Secondly, in my own time, I do my homework, go to the grocery store, watch Netflix or take a nap. Last winter as it was too cold to go outside, I often played pool with friends in the billiard room. Also, in May, I started to work out, so I have been going to gym. Regarding travelling, I visited other cities in Poland almost every weekend during last semester. It is possible to buy a railway ticket with a 50% discount if you have your student ID. So in the summer holiday, I travelled around Europe and visited dozens of cities in more than 15 countries. Poland is located at centre of Europe and that’s why I could visit many countries.

After staying in Warsaw for more than 6 months, I feel that I have become used to my new life here. Warsaw may not be a popular or famous for many Japanese people, however I think it is a good destination for students due to the many new experiences that can be had here. (September 2018)
