The 3rd Nagasaki University
International Staff Week was opened.

Nagasaki University has concluded a consortium with partner universities from Portugal, Poland and Italy. Partner institutes include 4 Portuguese universities as well as universities from 12 other countries. The consortium has applied for an EU scholarship called Erasmus + to support exchange students and staff in this program. Through the collaboration and support of partner institutes, this program has been successfully adopted. Under this mutual support, Nagasaki University held its 3rd Nagasaki University International Staff Week from 21st May to 25th May 2018. This event welcomed 9 faculty members and 3 administrative staff from 4 Portuguese universities and 2 Polish universities in the School of Global Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Economics, Graduate School of Engineering, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences to deepen mutual friendship between the 3 countries and to exchange information about the universities.

During the sessions of the staff week, the participants and our staff enjoyed discussing the internationalization of the universities and joined in a wide variety of activities. The participants held lectures for teaching staff and students at the school of Nagasaki University. They visited historical places to learn of the history and culture of Nagasaki. Concluding the week, they visited the Japan-Portugal Society of Nagasaki and had exchanges with the society’s leaders including the director of the Nagasaki museum of history and culture.

This staff week was the first time to welcome participants from various faculties to deliver lectures. It was a very meaningful and memorable event for Nagasaki University and its schools.
